The owner himself, Tommaso Melani, is on hand throughout, guiding guests through the collection, answering questions and helping each visitor find the pieces closest to his own taste.
Stefano Bemer set out on his path in 1983 with the ambition of creating the perfect Italian shoe. He was self-taught: he began with shoe repairs, then built his craft through courses, practice and his own research, until he arrived at a method that in time became the signature of the house.
The house's official narrative, however, is not about "attaining perfection" but about the ceaseless pursuit of it — which is why the Stefano Bemer story is told as a continuation of its founder's vision rather than a closed chapter.
For Stefano Bemer, Florence is not merely a place of production but the very source of its aesthetic. The house is clear that its identity grows out of the spirit of the city: its harmony, its humanist culture, its love of proportion and of the beauty hidden in the detail. That way of thinking translates directly into the house style — refined but never insistent; elegant, yet free of ostentation. It is no accident that the atelier is housed today in a historic chapel in Florence's Oltrarno district, binding its present-day work still more closely to the local heritage of craftsmanship.
